A team from Pakistan is expected to visit India next month to finalise the modalities to facilitate pilgrims from India to Kartarpur Sahib through the #KartarpurCorridor. The Indian External Affairs Ministry said in an official tweet, “We welcome the visit of Pakistan team to discuss and finalise modalities for facilitating visit of pilgrims through Kartarpur Sahib Corridor on March 13. Follow-up meeting can be held in Pakistan as required“.
India also suggested for an early technical level discussions between engineers from both the sides without waiting for the discussion on the modalities, as both the countries are committed to open the #KartarpurCorridor for pilgrims on the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak.
Earlier, India had shared the coordinates of the ‘zero point’ of crossing to link the Indian side of the highway with the Kartarpur Corridor in Pakistan. Both countries have shared draft agreements with each other.
Last month Pakistan had urged the India to send a delegation to finalise the draft agreement but India replied that it was ready to host a Pakistani delegation in New Delhi. There was no response from the Pakistan side till thursday, when twitter diplomacy surfaced between officials of both sides and an apparent consensus was agreed upon.
On a lighter note, Kartarpur Corridor will be a witness of who serves the best Biryani considering both countries are eager to play the host.
