Indian Government to acquire 50 acres for land for the Indian side of Kartarpur Corridor.

Land Ports Authority of India, entrusted with to work with the modalities of Indian side of the Kartarpur Corridor, visited Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur near the International border with Pakistan has decided to acquire around 50 acres of land needed for it.

Anil Kumar Bamba, chairman and BR Sharma, special secretary of the Land Ports Authority of India had a three hour meeting with Gurdaspur Deputy Commissioner Vipul Ujwal, Dera Baba Nanak Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ashok Sharma, Batala SSP Opinderjit Singh Ghuman and officials of the BSF, Customs, Immigration, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the PWD.


The Sub Divisional Magistrate, Dera Baba Nanak, which is the competent authority for land acquisitions has issued notification to take over the required land needed for construction of the road and related infrastructure for the Indian side of the Kartarpur Corridor.

Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Dera Baba Nanak Member of Legislative Assembly and Cabinet minister, informed that a four panelled two hundred feet road is under proposal to connect Dera Baba Nanak to the zero point of the International border connecting with the Kartarpur Corridor on the Pakistan side.
