Kartarpur Corridor is an atonement for mistake done in 1947 says Indian Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a commemorative coin to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh

In an event to release a 350 rupees commemorative coin to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Govind Singh, the prime minister of India, Narendra Modi commented that it was a big mistake on the part of the then government not to initiate any effort to include the Kartarpur Sahib within India, depriving Indian Sikhs to visit the place where Guru Nanak rests.

As the present government has taken the initiative for opening the border for Kartarpur Corridor, Narendra modi referred it to an atonement for the mistake during partition. Taking credit for, he said that now the followers of Guru Nanak will not have to look at Guru Nanak’s darbar sahib with binoculars, but will be able to visit the place without any visa.


Modi questioned why there was no effort to include Kartarpur Darbar Sahib in India, though it was just a ew kilometers rom the border and most of the followers of Guru Nanak stayed back in India. The kartarpur Corridor according to him is an attempt to compensate the loss which was incurred in 1947 during partition.

Eminent sikh personalities including the former prime minister of India, Manmohan Singh was present in the event to release the commemorative
