Pakistan Prime minister Imran Khan today officially laid the foundation stone of the Kartarpur corridor today, 28th November, marking the construction of the 4 km road from Gurdwara Darbar Sharif Kartarpur to the International Border.
the ceremony was attended by Government of India representatives Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Hardeep Singh Puri alongside dignitaries from both the countries.
Previously the Indian side of the Corridor to peace, as it is being referred to worldwide, was inaugurated by the vice president of India. Former prime minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee had also spoken about Kartarpur Corridor on his historical bus yatra to Lahore.
Kartarpur corridor is expected to be completed within a year in both sides and is expected to facilitate visa and passport free movement of pilgrims from both countries.
Speaking on the event, Imran Khan said, “I want a strong relationship with India. Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership are on the same page on this.”
